Cobwebbed ancient train tracks
slum stations, over priced tickets
it’s a long way home
smiles wrinkling, waiting
towers erect over stations
persuading most to settle down
We’re held by the desires, which cling, but we long for
gold buttons, blue uniforms to pay that debt off
while days pass like the rain drops that seep through the ground
“We hear that whistle blowing
calls us to keep on going
taking us deeper than our wants
we set off for a vacation
now we’re broke at the station
and we’re in deeper than we thought
cars packed with people all half alive half their teeth are
missing every penny took for the next track
by men in nests growing fat
but I’ve been called
I’ve been letting it all
now I’m getting on
Can I be a light?
can I be alive?
Promised I’d arrive by a voice gently spoken
warned bout the hauntings and tauntings sure to come
“keep on the train track to arrive at home”
