when his young eyes glance the moon
they get wet, occationally

His family's so supportive
which makes everything blurry
friendly words are hard to trust
when this Earth feels imaginary

Non the less he's happy
New diploma in his hand
that pretty speech was the last time
he recalls feeling ambition

Finds a spot in Texas
waits the space station to call
He refuses to make new friends
since he's destined for the stars

He says soon I will get to go to outer space

Nobody rings his doorbell
though he almost hears it once or twice
any person breathing that much silence
will forget their own voice

Magazines are piling
on the stoop by the telescope
He can't find time for recreation
between the work and the alcohol abuse

but there's still the smallest whisper
he can't push away
the question that supersedes
all the bullshit filling his days

He asks "when will I get to go to outer space?"
